Irish w124

Hello BenzWorld

Well my story is that my Dad had a 200E, after he past away it has been left sitting for about 2 years now in the driveway. I just moved back to Ireland after finishing an engineering degree and really want to get this Merc back on the roads, so any help and advice I hope to get from this forum would be greatly appreciated.

As for the car from that I could find its:
  • Matt white with chrome wheel arches
  • Automatic
  • 146,460 miles on the clock
  • 200E w124.028
  • M102.982/963/985 (E23/E20)

I just picked up / fitted a new battery today and checked all fluids, it has been started the odd time over those 2 years so the engine has not seized.
My near future plan is to drain the petrol from the tank by disconnecting the fuel feed from the cylinder head and use the fuel pump to siphon the fuel tank (without cranking the engine over). Then I will put in some fresh petrol with some fuel treatment to hopefully clean out the system a bit from any gumming fuel. I hope any parts of this system which will require replacing can be done later.
After that the brake discs look corroded and the washer jets/wiper are not working. Also the electric windows won't work unless the driver door is open about 15 degree haha!

I'm sure I will make a thread about this project but some research will need to be done first. If anything I have said is a bad idea please PM me

Thanks for reading.

Howdy partner and 'birdy num nums to you'. (Peter Sellers in The Party - but I'm sure all Benz owners know that)

I'm a new member (2 days) and it seems the old members can't be bothered to welcome the newbies. They seem to have no social graces about them at all. (Your post would probably have disappeared into the ether. Just look at all the posts with ZERO replies.)

So anyway WELCOME and I LOVE my new Benz also.

PS you oldies should be ashamed!!! A very simple "Welcome" is more than sufficient. Lift your game.

I'm waiting for the flames.....ouch.

Oh i'm not so fussed about a big reply. Easy to get caught up in other subject forums where the cars are the subject rather then the people and thats kinda why the forum exists so it's not a big deal to me

Thanks anyway for taking the time to welcome me, welcome to you to

Btw, got a Haynes manual on its way so loads of fun to be had
