I have a 2007 SL550. Today the car won't change gears and the check engine light went off. Of course the car went out of warranty few weeks ago and today is a saturday. i am trying to figure out what can be causing this. Thanks.
There are two scenarios for the 722.9 transmission:
1. You/your Service followed MB retraction and change at 39k Km from life-time ATF but you did not use a total flush, just the 4-liter carter fluid and filter change and possible did not even use the OEM fluid.
2. You still have the original fluid, have well over 40k Km, and either the valve unit or the discs in the transmission failed due to severe service under conditions not foreseen as damaging when the product was released. I am inclined to predict that you favor "S" or manual transmission driving, which can become very demanding for pampering (service) on the transmission.
My suggestion is that you take the car to scan and discuss the results with a specialist mechanic of your trust. Then, analyze the picture and focus what you could do to work some "customer courtesy" deal if solely maintenance procedures would not correct the faults.
Thank you very much for the reply. I actually did a scan with an OBD and we got a P0178 - Pressure Control Solenoid Electrical. Any ideas?
