Finally...got one of my own!
Just joined the site today, but have been lurking for a while. I live in Rhode Island and if you're from the area, my username will give away the location. If not, oh well...
After finding a couple of good deals for my daughter (1991 190E and 1995 E320) and watching her (jealously) drive away in them, I finally got a Mercedes of my own!
I had been the proud owner of a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS but a rear-end highway collision got the best of her...
I've wanted a Mercedes for quite a while and figured this was a good a time as any. I'm not getting any younger and I want to at least be able to enjoy a fine automobile like this while I can. I test drove Volvo, Saab, and BMW convertibles (I've owned at least one of each of these in the past 30 or so years). The CLK was the first car I test drove, and inevitably, it was the one I benchmarked the others against. Needless to say, there really was no comparison. The Volvo drove like an old Taurus, and was really sloppy. The two I drove felt like the body was twisting everytime I took a turn. The Saab just had a horrible ride (great handling car though), and the BMW (even though the closest in quality to the Benz) still fell way short.
I was a little apprehensive about buying a car that was four years older than my "Spydah" and spending two grand more than I was paid for the totalled wreck. I've only had the car for a couple of days, but I love it already. She's got a couple of minor issues which I wont get into here, but all in all a great deal, and fairly low miles for the year (120K). Anyway, didn't want to get too lengthy here on my first post. I promise they wont all be like this...
