Guidance on which car to choose.
I have been looking for a MB for the last month or so and I have really come to love the styling(and power) of the AMG. However I have had some issues with finding a good used one. So I have turned my sights to another C-Class and I was wondering if I could get some input on the two cars regarding major differences in maintenance/reliability etc.
Car1--2004 C230 Kompressor 6 spd manual. Capri blue metallic/charcoal interior. 118k+ on odometer. Car is extremely clean and has been taken care of. Car is a base model, no sunroof, no power seats, base stereo etc. Capri blue metallic/charcoal interior.
How long will the stock clutch go assuming it has been taken care of like the rest of the car?
At this high of mileage what problems could I be potentially looking at as far as mechanical failure (A/C going out, power steering, etc)
Car2---2002 C32 AMG 75,000 miles. Silver/Charcoal interior. Car is also very clean and I have spoken with the owner and he has all the paperwork for the maintenance and has had it performed regularly. Car has all options excluding Navigation.
My main concerns are the maintenance issues in regards to these cars. I am aware the AMG will have a higher price for maintenance in regards to tires/ brakes, spark plugs/ more oil. I am also aware the AMG will sacrifice fuel economy for power.
With the AMG being a more powerful car and I looking at more unreliability when compared to the C230? Is there anything that I need to look/listen for in either of these cars when I go to look at them, anything that should stand out and scream "RUN!" if I see it? Whatever car I get will be my daily driver to school/work and will also need to be able to make a 7 hr one way trip home. I want to get the most for my money and these cars are only a couple thousand dollars difference in price.
Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.
