Post tyre tracking or bump steer

Hi all, perhaps someone can hlep me with some advice. I have an r129, standard in all respects other than the rims. Orginal rims are 16x8 I believe however my car has larger amg rims, 18x 8.5 and 18x9 on the rear. Looks good, plenty of traction and breaking however the care is really prone to tracking ;i.e. following the ruts or bumps in the road. So, not an easy drive on some parts of the higway when constantly correcting the steering. I am thinking of going to the orginal rims again to resolve the problem. Is there any other way of dealing with this issues? thanks in advance. ken
