Post Hello from Texas

Hello from Texas,
This is my first MB, so I'm not as experienced as some or ya'll. Plus I'm female so cars are not my strong point. Except for driving my TOY!!!! (By the way, that is my license plate TOY2ME)
I can have the worst day at work, get in that car, put the top down, and suddenly the world is right again.
Just found this website Monday. I'm having the peeling interior paint problem on my 2001 SLK320. I have decided to just strip it off with the Lift Off #5 from Home Depot. I have actually removed a large portion on the console with my thumb nail while driving. Underneath is the black that is on the dash, and it doesn't look bad. Just all blends together. If I don't like it, then I will re-think this. At least I won't ever need to repaint if this works.
Does anyone else have twirky electrical issues? Check engine light goes on and off weekly, A/C works when it wants to. Those 100degree days are kinda hot without it. Works for a few minutes, goes off for a few minutes, comes back on, eventually stays on.
Anyway, thanks for the help with the paint issue. I really didn't know where to turn for information. Glad I found this site.

I bought the Liftoff 5 that was recommended. Spent about 2 hours (behind the learning curve you know) working on the console. Finished about half. It looks amazing!!!!!! Nice shiny black underneath that nasty grey stuff. It is absolutely perfect!!! If the rest of the console and dash look this good, I will NEVER paint it grey again. Why would you? Sorry but I'm not that OCD that the car has to be exactly like it was when it rolled off the dealers lot. I know....some folk are...trust me....I have my issues. I cannot thank ya'll enough for this website. I would never have found this info without it. I'm so excited about fixing my TOY.
