Dial in glovebox?

My C-300 has a round movable dial in the glove box and I can't find anywhere in the manual what it is for? Any help would be appreciated.

Dial it to the open position, and your glovebox will be cooled. Here are the instructions from my SL:

Odd, I did not find the instructions from the US manual (I may well have missed those too) but the Euro manual explains this clearly:

Interactive Owner's Manual [In depth | Climate control | Adjusting the air vents]

I've never heard of a dial govebox before... My CLK doesn't have that, but it's probably because it's old.

My CLK (W209) does have an a/c inlet in the central armrest/storage unit.

Great for keeping the chocolates cold!
