Lease or buy a new C63

I'm about to get one (c63) but can't decide weather I should lease or buy.

Lease: $68.94K Cap Cost, 54% residual, 4.9% lease rate on 36 months ~$1250/month, $~6.5k on delivery. (lease fee ~ $7.7K over 36 months)

Finance: $66.8K selling, $6.5k down and $1351/month over 60 months @ 2.9%

Can anyone lend some insight on this. Thanks.

Joseph

Sounds like you can't even come close to affording the car if you can only put $6.5k down. Get something cheaper, much cheaper. A used Honda or Toyota product comes to mind.

i used $6.5k down so as to match the amount due on delivery on the lease option. that is, compare apples to apples.

You can put more down on the lease to reduce the payments. There is also no reason why the cap cost for the lease is more then the purchase. Leases are fully negotiable, just like a purchase.

You have to figure in the $6500 in your monthly lease so the total cost after 36 Month are $51500.00 the car original cost $68000,so do you think in 3 years you could sell the car for more then $16500?
The problem by your Apples to Apples is that you have an Orange between, when you finance you took 5 years against a 3 year lease.
If you finance over 60 month the car cost you $87560.00

If you can't use it through your business I would do neither and buy a used one

well put... humm... the 2007's C63s should be coming off the 36 month term soon. I wonder If I should consider one of those?? When they quote a 54% residual, does that mean that they sell the car for 54% of the original value or do they try to get more??

54% residual is a projected number by the manufacturer, normally 2-5 years in advance. The actual market determines the value of used car. It could 40% or it could be 55.5898%.

You should be considering used. It makes no sense to buy a new one and pay nearly $90k after finance. That would get you a nice new S550, which is a much better car.

Thanks again... You are right: either get a straight ahead 36 month term lease (~$725/month) or buy a used one when they come up.

Or a really nice SL550!

I've never been a fan of leasing.
