So I happened to ask my local mechanic and he said if it happens after 3 days, it should be electrical. He replaced my spark plugs as he said they were old and yellowing. Ill try to not drive it for 3 days again to see if it happens still.

Hello,

I have a 2006 ml 500, with 70,000 miles, I brought it in Oct. 2010 and about a month or so after purchasing the car it began hesitating and losing acceleration when I take off from a light to turn the corner, for a few seconds then the power kicks in and everything is fine. I thought maybe it was bad gas so I changed gas three times however the problem still persist to date randomly, the engine light came on one time and when I took it to the dealer he said they would charge me by the hour to check, they did no know what the problem could be or how long it would take to determine the problem. They also said the engine light might not have recorded the problem, maybe I should bring it back when I does it, but since it does it randomly I have not clue.

The other day while sitting at a stop light the car began to accelerated by itself with my foot on the brake.

That was real scary, and someone please help me. I'm starting to be real sorry I purchased this car.

Take you ML to an Advanced Auto or Autozone. They will scan the codes for free. Let us know what the specific codes are. Most codes are stored or you could have pending codes. They should come up even if your CEL is not on.

Thanks Mike,

I took the car autozone, the code they detected is P0335 (crankshaft position sensor) part #su4740 for $54.99. I have an appointment with a Mercedes dealer for tomorrow.

Do you know if that sounds correct?

If it is the crankshaft position sensor, check out the prices on autohausaz. I have not changed one on your model. On my ML 320 it was very easy to do. I would at least do a search of the w164 forum to see if there is write up on changing it. Could save you some cash!

I have a 400, 300 miles on mine. Cat's got clogged and had to be changed at 250 k, and had to replace the a couple fuel pumps later on. First change the fuel filter than, have the cats check and lastly the fuel pump.
