Thumbs down How do you change the oil on a 2002 E55 AMG

Hello,

I am wondering how to change the oil on a 2002 E55 AMG and a 2006 350. I am tired of relying on techs, etc. and would like to do the oil changes myself.

1) How do you access the oil filter? Is it accessed from the top of the car, below the shield? Do I need special tools?

2) I believe you use an oil exstractor to get the old oil out. Is that correct? Do you simply extract throught the oil dip stick hole?

Any help is appriciated. I searched the forums, YouTube and couldn't find anything that clearly explained it. I know Jiffy Lube techs do this all the time so it cant be that hard....

Best,

Steve

Welcome to the forum.
Yes, extraction is way easier way than pulling the plug and have the oil splash all over after hitting the suspension bar. Oil filter on the top is MB exclusive for last 40 years. Now I am pretty upset having oil in my sleeves while pulling the filter on Ford.

Thanks for the reply and the info. I found another thread on this site that laid the oil change process out pretty good. Its not specific to an E55 but it shows how an oil change on a Benz is done. Copy attached. Glad to be a new member, sounds like there is a ton of knoledge here.

Best,

Steve
