S600

Well I ran across a deal on a S600 that I could not pass up. Its a 2003 with 34,000 miles on it. Service has been keep up by the local MB dealer, but the extended warranty just ended. I have looked around for someone that will put a warranty on it but no one wants to touch the V12.

Anyone have a idea of a good warranty company that will put a warranty on this car?

Thanks

Warranties are insurance policies and insurance companies don't lose money.

This explains why either

no insurance company will write this policy
you won't come out ahead

Best to start a savings account IMHO.

Wonderful cars but you need your bank manager to be your best pal

There is a good reason why no warranty companies will touch this car...... Its an endless money pit. There is also no such thing as a 'good deal' on a W220 S600, only a deal that will allow you to resell the car to another sucker. Sell the car right now before the repair bills start piling up. That is the best advice I can give you, otherwise budget large sums of money for repairs and get to know your dealer very well. It may spent more time in the shop then in your garage.

I can assure you he is not the only one with a bad experience on this model.

listen the s600 is a great car but when you start needing repairs, its not cheap. and any engine repair usually is not cheap. with the v12 alot of repairs involve pulling the engine just to replace a part due to the fit of the engine. and now days extended warranty companies wont do do work with them because they loose money with them. i had one come in a few years back that the repairs exceded $30,000 (parts and labor) and the extended warranty company offered the customer there money back for the policy.

Here's what I think is a realistic view of ANY version of S-class ...

... if you can't afford to buy and own a brand new one, you can't afford to own a used one either.

I think there are some limited exceptions to that rule. i have a 1995 SWB S320 which costs virtually nothing to take care of, and was relatively inexpensive to buy. Of course it's essentially a stripped down car, probably the last stripped down S-class, and it was well cared for before I bought, and I don't send it out for maintenance and repair. It's a combination of rarely does anything break plus it's quite easy to work on. With no depreciation, inexpensive registration and insurance it's kind of ridiculous how low the total operating costs.
