Wink ML320 question on coolant reservoir...please don't laugh at me!

OK so I notice today that the hose that connects to the left side (when you're looking at it, hood open) of my coolant is reservoir is just swinging...what/where does it attach to? I have been looking for diagrams, usually I can find what I need, but no luck today.

Is it a small hose? Perhaps the overflow pipe?

Thanks for the diagram. 89 looks like the one I am referring to. I noticed a noise when I drive so I asked my husband to look and that is what we discovered.

If you do not get help from this General section, you may try to post at the 163 specific forum.

I'm sure your'e right... anything else would be a disaster...

Looks like the 0.5 inch diameter overflow pipe has popped off the upper inlet on the coolant expansion reservoir. Re-tighten to 3 Nm.

Thanks! I've had no problems, not running hot, but have been losing coolant. Been keeping a close eye on it.

You did not mention the coolant loss issue before (or I did not notice). Better to figure out soon where it goes. Perhaps just the coolant pump leaking but it could be worse (you should see some signs if it was the pump).

Worst case is a blown head gasket, which will easily cost north of a $1000-2000 to fix. Is your oil milky? Then again, its a first generation ML, so that is the least of its problems. Sell the truck now.
