Smile SL 320

Hi all,

Needing information on the SL 320's.

What years were they made, Any ideas why MB stopped making them?

Where they good/reliable cars. Were they under powered with the V6 engine?

What is the overall length of the car? (Gotta see if 320 & the golf car will fit in small garage)

I would appreciate any information you can provide - THANKS.

Very good cars, especially 94 to 96 without ASR. They were made from 94 to 97. They are straight six, not V6. Mercedes didn't stop making them, just stopped bringing them to the U.S. - not popular with price insensitive U.S. new 129 buyers. You just have to drive it to see if you think it has enough power for you. 176 inches long.

This reminds me: a few years back I walked into a local stealership and asked why the E200 version of the W211 body wasn't imported into the US. "No demand" was the salesman's reply.

So, I hung around the dealership all day, and it seems the salesman was right, nobody else asked for one.

In the US, Mercedes is a luxury brand and MBUSA's dealership network has not pushed for "entry level" vehicles until recently. Worldwide, Mercedes offers more powerplant choices.

I agree that those were the "dark days" of Bosch electronics/electricals.
