Service B

I just bought a 2005 c230 Kompressor and I'm getting a message that says it's like 500 days passed due for service B.. Should I take it in for service? The previous owner said he got the oil changed and some other stuff recently so could they of just forgot to reset the message? I'm new to mercedes so I have no idea. I don't really want to take it in for service if it doesn't need it. It runs great and I haven't noticed any problems yet. Thanks

The person that sold you the car may or may not have done the service that they "say" they did. The FSS (the system that tells you that you are overdue) was not reset by the last mechanic(s). So, the problem is that you don't know the grade or quality of oil that was last filled into your engine, and cannot enter that info into the FSS to have it properly reset. My advice would be to suck up the cost, and have MB or a mechanic that is familliar with MB to do your Service B and reset the FSS. You then have a clean start point, and you are protecting your investment in a fine vehicle.

Good idea. Yeah I was thinking about it. I don't trust the guy so might as well. I want it to be in tip top shape anyways. Thanks!
