First i would like to say hello as a new member.Dorset UK the sunny bit lol
I have a 1999 170 diesel with a load or problems, mostly injector.
It all started with the usual smell in the cab soon after the purchase. My wonderful mechanic found the injector area coated with the black cystal gundge. After cleaning it off (two days) we found the injector clamp had broken and and after a lot of huffing and swearing the two injectors came out., We cleaned them and had the head reamed to replace them, put everything back together and started it, diesel poured out underneath the car.
Back to manifold off. and whilst still running number four injector was dribbling diesel. It took four days of hard work to get the third and fourth injector out, only by physically smashing the connecter claw which holds them in.
Two second hand injectors £130 from a similar 170 fitted, car drives but feels as though missing as excelarating, Top merc man diagnosed wrong two injecters????????seems they change over the years.
Question, has anybody found a way of cutting through the connecting claw between the two injectors????????????I have found a diesel A Class in the car yard with four maching injectors and would love to get them out. Any thoughts please. (am desperate)
