squealing with air conditioner

I have a 1989 560SL. Have been unable to use the air this year cuz it makes a horrible noise when I turn it on. Lately starting to make the noise when turn on windshield defroster. Any ideas?

What steps have you taken to troubleshoot the problem? Or are you just expecting us to solve the problem magically over the internet?

magic

No no magic (but nice sarcasm), I just am not sure what to do with it. I've had the belts changed (all 5) and it came back so have sprayed them with belt dressing. Not sure what to do next. Thanks

Well, your first mistake is the belt dressing. Never ever use belt dressing. It makes the belts run well for about a day, then after that they start slipping even worse then dry out and crack.

Have you had a mechanic or an A/C shop look at it? There are about 100 things that could be wrong. Going down the entire list without seeing the car in person is impossible.

keep looking

Will have someone look at it for sure. Thanks. Just need to find a local Benz mechanic that's trustworthy.
