Help me choose my next car

Hey all-

New member here and looking for some guidance.

Im looking to buy a car- Budget is 50k. Id prefer to not buy a new car, but something thats a few years old.

My main goal is to get something that turns heads. I live in a semi rich time, so its pretty often to see M5's and the like around.

Ideally, I would like to get something that is just not seen frequently, but still has a modern look ( IE- even though a 70's ferarri is in my budget, its definitely not modern ) - While I would prefer a 4 door, Im definitely open to a 2 seater as well.

Cars I am considering:

AMG CLS 55
AMG CLS 63
S600
S550 4Matic
Alpina B7
Lotus Evora

Cars that would definitely fit the bill, but out of my price range:

Murcielago
Audi R8
Ford GT
Nissan GTR

Cars that are common , or look like common cars: (and as such, not interesting to me)

All Audi S series
All Porsche, for the most part (the 4 door is cool, but above my price range)

Anyways- I wonder if I am missing any other cars. What cars ( MB and non MB ) would you say "turn the most heads"

A final note before I finish. I am well aware that pricey cars have pricey maintenance and upkeep. Assume that I have that covered and just consider this a thought experiment in finding the best "head turner" under 50k.

Thanks!

In the 2-seater realm, an SL 550 is a pretty good looking car (especially with the top down, it becomes a head-turner).

I'm just trying to reconcile how someone interested in an S600 would also be considering the Evora. It's a little like going to a steakhouse and wanting to order a tofu burger.

Way too common, I recently saw no fewer than twenty-six of them at a local fru-fru coffee shop. Scarbutt's or something.

It all depends on where you live. I have the only one in my town of 10,000 people.

Good point. Since we don't know where the OP lives, we can easily recommend that he acquire a Ford Focus SES, which might well be the only one in his town, especially if he lives in, say, Kerblookistan.

Maybe you are onto something here. He could buy two 2011 Ford Focus SES's with his $50,000 budget. Oh wait a minute...then there would be 2 in town.

Im looking for uncommon cars that are head turners.

Any other suggestions for cars? Did I miss any?

You haven't missed any that I can think of. As far as the CLS goes: I saw my first one up-live every day for a week while visiting the Napa Valley the last week of March...amazingingly beautiful car. When I got home I test drove a 2007 model. The back seats were like being in a very expensive private plane. The driving position killed it for me. I couldn't see the hood at all (only the windshield washer jets). That point was important for me, so I decided to look further, but was impressed with MB. I guess the only advice I can offer is to test drive a few cars and see which one "speaks to you". Good luck in your search.

If you're looking for luxury and reliability, get a Merc.
If you want something a tad sportier, get a BMW.
If you're seeking a bit more exclusivity, opt for a Jag, or an Aston.

Now, if bling is what you're after, any of the above, or a Cayenne, with massive rims and tinted windows will do the trick.

Again, Evora, S-class, Murcielago, are different things.
