Post "Wet behind the ears" new benz member/owner

I just purchased a '95 C280 with 200k miles, got it cheap for $1k because the left front lower control arm is broken so I said "wth" and got it, even wifey approved of it (a very rare moment). It has <1 year OEM rims & tires and the inside is great, even still has the original first aid kit (already had to use a bandaid taking the wheel off) and the owner had service records, even the original service book filled out & updated. Engine runs good in idle and tranny shifts good even though I haven't driven it on the road yet.
Everything works so far with exceptions. I've found some great info and diy stuff online, most originating from this forum.

Problems found so far:

-Antenna stopped going up after a week but found info here how to repair it.

-Some speakers have no sound, will look for loose wires.

-Will replace both front control arms & bolts, maybe shocks, install liquid bushings? Researching found these cars are notorious for rusted front control arms.

-Rear Right pneumatic doorlock not working, maybe loose vacuum?

-dashboard temp is pegged max, found out sensor wires were soldered badly, will buy a modified sensor for lower temp running.

-either replace or liquid tape wire harness, this model is notorious for that also.

-right mirror was not working, fixed: was loose connector and mirror was off tabs.

-6-disc player in trunk, the magazine will not stay in, keeps ejecting, I will find a way to hook up an ipod later.

Other than these problems I've found so far this car is awesome, even sound systems sounds good with a few speakers out.

did this car have optional door assist? I'm trying to figure out the vacuum lines going to the pump.

Where i can i buy a repair/service manual at a decent price besides from Mercedes. Or should i go with alldatadiy.com?

I guess there is no way around a mercedes spring compressor for the control arm, huh?

I'm looking to working on this car (without total frustration) and post pics/info on the projects, we are all in this together.

Sounds like a good way to get started in a good car. From working on all of my cars including 2 MB diesels, it is somewhat relaxing. I am an electrical engineer so it is a bit of a change.

thanks for the welcoming, I was an electrician in the US military and now going back to school in electrical engineering, you can teach a semi-old-dog new tricks after all

Now i need to look for a spring compressor to replace control arms, a diagnostic scanner (carsoft in this forum?), & a decent torque wrench.
