Yet another new Merc owner!

Hi all!
I'm Mik from the UK, and have been lured into MB ownership by a blue whale...or more accurately a 380SEL, although it's only 3 inches shorter than a blue whale. ;-)
The ride is fantastic and looks like quite a mile-muncher. As ever, there's a small catalogue of little faults that need fixing but then, that's part of the fun. I think I'm going to be doing quite a bit of forum searching and Googling before all is fixed.
First on the list - how to open the bonnet/hood. I can see the release handle. And I can see the cable. Unfortunately, the handle is only attached to the cable and swinging free! I've given it a damn good pull in a few directions with little success.
Well, I'd better get on looking through past threads, as this must've cropped up a few times before.

Drive safely,
Mik.

Welcome...good looking blue whale. You could try grabbing that dangling hood release cable with a pliers or similar tool and pulling on it.

Thanks. Just been out to give it a try and it seems to be anchored to a rock - no movement at all. I'll see if I can get someone to hold the front down which might make things easier.
I've had a closer look at the release mechanism and it looks like the part the handle should attach to has sheared off - time to go hunting in the breakers yard, I think!
