Thanks for all the info so far.
I put new spark plugs in it last night and I cleaned out the mass air sensor which I was surprised to see was after the supercharger and operates under boost. Most cars I've worked on in the past have the mass air sensor before the blower.
Anyhow I noticed all the intake tubing has a thin film of oil on it. I traced it back to the air filter box and there's a little hose that comes off the box that runs up to another odd shaped black flat box on the valve cover. I'm not sure if that's some sort of PCV system or what but that's where the oily film is coming from.
Anyhow the new plugs and cleaned mass air seem to have greatly reduced the vibration in reverse but performance is unchanged and horrible.
Also the P0170 fuel trim code comes right back each time I clear it.
This car has so much stuff wrong on it I didn't even list half of it up above. Given that the car appears to be so unfriendly to work on I think we're just going to sell it. I'll still do what I can on it but in the long run I think we're best off without it.
