Retrofitting rear window rollerblind to 95 E300D?

Just bought my first Mercedes about a week ago, and I'm in love. It's a white 1995 E300D, and it's just about the most beautiful thing I've ever owned. Spectacular condition inside and out, and rides and handles like a dream--minus needing new front struts.

Flipping through the owner's manual, I noticed that an option on this model is the rear-window roller blind. Mine isn't equipped with one, but since I live in Texas a sunshade in the rear window would be a godsend.

How difficult/expensive/possible is retrofitting the roller blind? I'm mechanically inclined, so unless it requires special tools or a controlled environment, I'm up to the task.

You either have it or you don't. It isn't worth the massive bill to install the blind on a 15 year old car and hope that is doesn't constantly break (which it will). A much better option would be to get all of the windows tinted to the legal darkness allowed. It would be much cheaper and would actually protect the interior from the sun and heat.

I was considering a car without one and asked my dealer if they could do it. The service manager at the time said to forget it but I don't remember if he told me why. My gut feeling is way too expensive. But if you can find the parts and do it yourself go for it. I love mine.

Looks like the blind units sell for $500 and up on eBay. Out of my price range, especially considering I need to think about things like new struts and shocks and a transmission flush. Might be a project for a couple years down the road.
