How much does paint repair cost?

I have a 2009, C300 4matic in metallic grey. I have a scratch on the passangers side, after the door. The scratch is about an inch, and feels rough. Whats a fair price and is it something mercedes should repair?

Well, it depends on the quality and comprehensiveness of the repair. If it's on the rear 1/4 panel but in close proximity to the door, you might have to paint into the door in order to blend it properly. I'd guess somewhere between $500 and $800 should do it. And if it is a paint "defect" then MB should cover it. If not, and someone just scratched your car, no.

Is the scratch down to the primer or just in the clear coat? Can you stick your fingernail in it and feel it? If so, then the entire panel plus all surrounding panels will need to be repainted/blended by a professional body shop. The cost could easily exceed $1000. If the scratch is just in the clear coat, then a good professional detailer could correct it with a combination of wet sanding/buffing for a couple $100.

In case you are unaware you can post a photo on here which would help us to answer your question with more accurcy. Scroll down and you will see a Manage Attachments button that you click to browse to a digital photo on one of your hard drives. But I would take it to a professional detailer and ask their opinion.
