So your car actually does not have the factory Comand navigation? That sounds like a breach of sales contract to me unless you bought it from a private party and the bill of sale says "as is."
You can do what you'd like, of course, but you can buy a helluva Garmin for a couple of hundred bucks. It won't mount in the dash, but it will do a better job than the DVD-based nav, especially if you have an old map. For another $120 you can buy a lifetime upgrade option that will update the maps free for as long as you own it.
If all you need is a DVD, you can buy those directly from NavTek (OEM) for about $200.
