Yeah. I've been living in communism where the bribes were pretty common.
When I needed to push the papers in the office, it was amazing what power of chocolate bar, or even simple bouquet of flowers has.
Than what was nice to observe in US is how efficient owners-operators can be.
When you book with a bookie, you can as well as flip the coin on job quality.

In capitalism:
You give the driver some tip because his butt hurts after the long drive. Tipping is a way of showing appreciation for the service performed.
You bribe the driver when you want him to do something unethical or transport something illegal.

As I said, I lived through all kinds of tipping and bribing.
For example in California lunch restaurants don't always get tips and most offer excellent service. While in Florida we had lunch at buffet, where waitress brought us water. They added 15% tip to the bill for lousy service.
Now giving money to the driver to delay delivery to somebody else, because you want the car now would be a bribe, wouldn't it?

I had a car transported from the East coast to West before. The driver's side floor mat was missing at delivery. I called the dealer; they said they put it in. The other 3 pieces of floor mats were there. The transport driver said he never knew about the driver's side floor mat because there was that big piece of protective paper covering the floor at all time.
Who took it? Until this day, I do not know.
