1st oil change?

I had ~3400 miles on 2008 W211 and "A" service came up. "B" service light also came up so I took it in for oil change. Was this too
early? Other

Your time limit send you for oil change, not the mileage.
You are not in US, are you? US models have computer programmed for 1 year intervals, while other countries for 2 years.
Evidently oil industry in US have better "motivations" to talk to MBUSA than other countries.

Its not good to keep putting it off just change as soon as possible and try to do on a more regular basis as oil changes are very important.

True, but there is no need to do it before the suggested time/mileage limit assuming you are using the proper oil and filter. Does anyone have a link to the European two year requirement? I'd like to see that in print.

I am sorry to say that MB, as well as other brands, seem to have goofed with the so called long-term and life-time fluids. Back pedaling the way is being done from model year to model year, added to the condition of the fluids found by owners who did not trust those long terms, point to a wild shooting gallery that so far does not seem to have made the target.

To this it must be added the teachings needed to popularize the application of synthetic lubricants and compatible filters and seals. Bottom line, I am saying that we are through a period of transition requiring that we keep our eyes wide open and proceed according to our best reasoning and processing of our acquired info and experience.

A car would show appreciation for preventive maintenance by never leaving his owner stranded.

Defensive Driving is never having to say you're sorry: a true love story between man and machine.

It doesn't HURT to change your oil at 3,400 Miles. Maybe your Wallet $$$ might hurt but other than that, NO it will not hurt anything. Check your Owners Manual. See what is written specifically for your model. Now whatever they suggest, I would change the Oil or do the service at 75% mark. Example: if MB says change Oil at 10K Miles, I change mine at 7,500 miles. It's MY car and I'll do as I please. There is no harm in changing it early. ( Just not too early-otherwise my wallet starts to scream bloody murder). Kapiche? Lifetime Tranny Oil is simple foolishness and an expensive future lesson. 100,000Mile Radiator Fluid is pure negligence. Take MB's advice with Wisdom.
