Question What's this button for??

There's a button on my '87 MB 190E...it's under the drivers side window button, by the gear shifter. A lil square button, it clicks down, or up, but I have NO clue what the heck it's for?? I so wish there was a user manual in that car lol.
Thanx for any and all help in advance!

If no one here answers try the W201 190 Class (what MB calls what you have) forum found in the sedans section.

Could it be the child lock for rear windows? Preventing rear windows operated from the rear.

The W201 forum would likely have links to a PDF-copy of a user manual, as above, better to visit that forum.

I'm sure you are right.

WIS drawing 82-0840 Wiring diagram for power windows (except USA) shows a switch S20s3 anotated 'rear power windows safety switch'. This isolates power to the window switches in the rear - S21/3 (left) and S21/4 (right)

I think that the (except USA) will cover a minor detail.

^If so then all he needs to do is try the switch in each position and go to a rear door switch and try to open the window.

It's the kind of question always answered in the owners manual.

Those who don't have one can get one from their dealer or by calling 800.for.merc

Yes, it's the rear window lockout.
