OK it seems like we are on the same page. I have a lot of respect for you MB techs because I know these beasts are complicated. BTW I have only met one Master Tech and I thought he was great but the dealer let him go because he was "too slow". That's a shame because he apparently wasn't turning enough cars or making them enough money.

So today i went to the dealership and they said the left left air shock is leaking and it costs $1,500 to replace it. I know that part itself cost $1,200 but the thing is that i just don't trust them.

Is that possible the problem was not the air shock but something much simpler that costs very little to fix but they exaggerate it to make customer pay more.

You think it is possible?
That is good old crapmatic for you. Maybe you shouldn't have purchased a first generation E500 if you didn't want to deal with the failures.

The other side of the coin to tell you that the reason I do not go to third parties for repairs is because the approach they take. Should the price customers be separated from those of us who wish it done right, part swapping would not be applied regardless of the extra time required. This method is a combo of laziness with I don't care if the customer has to come back.

The fact that the car is complicated is confessing lack of training or being a general surgeon doing an emergency craniotomy. Master mechanic does not mean having gone to school but being able to find the correct answer to any mechanical question by keeping up to date, having the right tools and using his know-how as an art. Anything short of this would be a rip off...

A car would show appreciation for preventive maintenance by never leaving his owner stranded.

Defensive Driving is never having to say you're sorry: a true love story between man and machine.
