Hi all,
I purchased a 1999 CLK 320 a couple of months ago and have a problem with the soft top. I have read all the posts on this site and searched the internet for info and was wondering if anyone has any further insight.
First of all I have read all info regarding the roll bar and how to use the roll bar control button to reset and how to reach the sensor at the side of the headrests, however, my roll bar switch is completely dead and the roll bar is in the down position, I have checked the 40 amp fuse in the boot, all ok.
When I try to open the soft top all the windows drop and that is it, no sounds from the trunk or the roll bar and no movement with the soft top. The red button for lowering the soft top does not light up or flash in any way.
What I would like to know is if the control module is irreparable (Relays etc..) can the soft top be lowered and raised manually without causing any damage.

Thanks for any advice, its much appreciated

Hi F1 Bobby, Thanks for the welcome. I havent had any replies to my query, do you think I should post it somewhere else on this site. I know questions have been asked before about soft tops and it must get a bit boring replying to the same problems. I only really want to know if I will create any damage to the soft top mechanism if I retract it manually. I dont really want to pay 2000 for a new module if I can lower the soft top manually.
