That is a valid VIN format for a W220, and the production number is low enough to be an '02 MY VIN. It wouldn't matter if it was gray market or not; all recent VINs conform to a global format, so US VIN numbers are not distinguishable (that's what I've been told, not what I know to be true).
All I can figure is the two digits after the 'G' and the two digits after the 'J' may be wrong. Carefully check the 70 and 62 for correctness. It's the numbers not the letters that are invalid, I think.
