Hi guys: I am retired now as an engine repair specialist, but a buddy of mine had his C200 fail to start when warm. One of my old employees - a good man - works where the car is now parked, unfinished, and he tells me that after a lot of searching, it turns out that ONE of the black "chips" in the bosche ECU (lid taken off!) gets HOT
and only after he blows cold air onto it from an airline blowgun, and cools the "chip" down, will the engine restart. The question is, Can a used ECU be set up to work with the car and the keys?
Is the system set only to be recoded to the car & keys by a Merc Main Dealer, and is the system used for this job called the DAS system? I get the impression that the garage owner guy is WELL out of his depth and does not know which way to turn. I would like to try and get my pal out of trouble with the car before it rots away. It's a 2003 vehicle. At this rate, (seven months now) we will all be dead before the car is fixed.
HELP HELP HELP!!!
