OK, so back to the topic. Twice I spend zero, but never actually had to be there to do it. When I planned to pick up my car - and since I'd be driving right past the stealership, closest one about 80 miles from home, I asked them for a quote to do the trans filter fluid and gasket. They quoted "at least $328 plus tax" not sure about possible max, if that is all that had to be done. What? On Top of that I'd have to leave the car from wed to friday then go back for it.
So I got parts on line, fluid at auto zone and self did it in about half hour for about $70. I'd have to check the receipts, bu tI recall being pleasantly surprised at the cost of having german parts delivered.
Then I wanted another key, having only one and finding they are not duplicated readily. Stealer wanted lots, cannot remember, I would have paid it, but I they required me to drive there to prove I had the car, show title and my driver lic. and pre pay. They still wouldn't mail the key, but would require me to drive back again, so cost of key and paperwork plus 320 miles of driving cost and time.
MBUSA in Irvine calif was nice enough to let me mail the paperwork copies and mail me back keys for reasonable cost.
Bottom line, if have car problems that require a dealer, you all will probably be buying my car cheap on here instead of me using them.
