Question Buying a Used CLK350 - Help!

Hey everyone,
I have found a used 2007 CLK350 in Texas that I am very, very interested in. The problem is that I live in Missouri. How exactly should I go about doing this? I have seen pictures and looked at the AutoCheck but that's it. I am not comfortable with just buying it without having it looked at by a mechanic and someone test driving it that I know. Or would it just be best for me to buy a one way ticket and fly down there?

Any advice or anything would be extremely helpful....Thank you!!

Also, isn't there a service out there that will send someone to test drive the car and take a look at it or something?

You could search the recommended repair facilities section of this site and ask if an independent service tech will check out the car for you, likely paying in advance for this service. If so, then you would be reasonably covered, if not, then you may wish to go have a look but only if this is THE car you are considering and after you have had an exhaustive conversation with the seller about every little detail you can think of. Don't get blinded by the vehicle, remain open to catching hints of trouble or hesitations on the sellers behalf and focus on those areas to get more info if it sounds like there may be a problem. The thing I have learned above all else is that the more you let someone talk the more they reveal, so be specific. As an example, you may not ant to ask if there is body damage because they may say "no" because little things may not qualify as damage in their mind, but if you ask "what kind of scratches and dings does it have", they may say "one small scratch on the bumper and two dings in the door". Hope this helps.
