300D Am I crazy?

So the wife’s 1985 300D has developed an issue at 250,000 miles … not sure what it is yet. It is A California car and believe it or not in needs the Oxidizer trap recall. Which I am having it towed to the dealer to be done at no charge on Monday.
The car starts fine, runs fine at idle, shifts & runs fine on the flats as long as you don’t push it. Try to go up a hill of get out on the highway … fagitaboutit.
It is not a clogged alda line or over pressure valve and if I pull the intake hose the turbo freely spins. I am hoping that the problem ends up being something that ends up being corrected when the trap oxidizer is replaced, but we will have to see.

Okay so now for the am I crazy part. I have found another 1985 300D non California model with 165,000 miles on it. Everything is supposed to work save the radio. The body is also supposed to be in excellent shape including the paint.
My only real concern is that repair parts may be drying up for these. Not that I have had to do many repairs on the other one in the seven years that we have owned it. With what I paid for the last car not counting oil and gas & insurance I figure it has cost me about 50.00 a month to own up to now. If I get the same kind of service out of the “new” one I should have 100,000 miles of relatively trouble free operation.
Can anyone think of anything I should look out for, or any reason I should not buy the 2nd car?

I just bought a 300SDL. A 300D is a fine car and makes an excellent daily driver. It's even a lot cheaper to buy and maintain than a new econobox.
