Just bought a 2007 ML350 with 22,000 miles.
The vehicle comes with 1 year left on the original warranty and an additional 1 year for 2 years total.
I was offered a 2-yr extended warranty (that would kick in after the first 2 years are compelted - 2012) by the dealer for $3995.

Do I need this? Is this a good price for an extended warranty? Why should I buy this now vs later? Should I wait until the first 2 years are complete, then purchase an extended warranty?

HELP!

Thank you!

i wouldnt buy an extended warranty unless i knew i was going to keep the vehicle for an extended period of time or after the lease terms, etc... if you arent going to keep it, dont buy it

It sounds like you bought a CPO which is a good choice. You only "need" it if you can't wrench it yourself. The price sounds fair but they are negotiable. If you have the option of buying it later I would; see how it behaves and let that be your guide. The only caveat I can think of is the price will probably be higher later. By the way, I bought a CPO and am a firm believer in that program.
