Thumbs up E series, new member

Hi everyone, just registered with the site. I own two E class estates, one a 2002 E220CDi, the other a 1998 E300TD. The reason for me joining was that I discovered (and wanted to view) the explanation (in pictures) on how to fix the duff temperature guage and clock on my 2002 car.
What can I say other than "totally impressed". I followed the instructions carefully and guess what, both guages now working perfectly. Many thanks indeed to Franasia.
Mercedes told me I needed a complete new instrument cluster at £702 + VAT and fitting, and there are some companies offering a repair at £150 or so. Total cost to me thanks to the brilliant post was £1 (for some pencil erasers to act as shimming material!) and a couple of hours work.
My next job is to tackle the driver's door window regulators on both cars, which I understand is another "standard fault" with these models. So, I shall delve around the forums here and hopefully find a few more tips with this job.
Regards, John P.
