At the risk of asking a foolish question: would you rather be right, or be happy? It's a $23 part. You seem to be investing a lot of anger and irritation in an issue that just isn't that big a deal.
Yes, they are wrong. They will probably make it right. Or not. Why let them live in your head rent free? I promise the service writer and the mechanic aren't thinking about your MAF clip.
Get your car fixed, put the top down, and enjoy the feeling that only an R129 brings. I spent the day doing just that, and it was great.
Thanks for the therapy. You've got a great easy going attitude.
For the record, I'm not frustrated. Rather, I'm appalled. Fyi, that mechanic who worked on my car was the foreman at this Mercedes dealer.
Though I don't think about this day and night, I'm am concerned about the way dealers treat consumers, and what I want to do is to alert consumers that entrusting their cars to mechanics should be with supervision, not on blind faith and with open checkbooks.
Besides, it makes me chuckle to see their advertisements of how "excellent" they are compared to reality, so I just have to share my experiences with fellow car owners.
See the postcard I received from Mercedes after my service appointment: Do you think I got what I deserved? Was this foreman passionate, did he provide the most advanced level of service, and was the result to the exact specifications to ensure authentic Mercedes-Benz performance? Ha ha! They think I was born yesterday
