My 1985 MBZ 500 SEL
I have been having trouble with my 500 SEL. I bought the car about 3 months ago and it had been nothing but perfect except for a small annoyance of beeping when i brake sometimes however, recently I was driving down the road and it started to hesitate a bit.
I thought maybe it was low on fuel as it seemed a bit starved by the symptoms. However after getting fuel I was driving on my way home and the car completely died on me. It would immediately start back up thus I thought maybe it was a fluke and after another 45 seconds or so it died again. I struggled to get it home having to restart it every 15 seconds or so.
This had happened on some of my previous cars and it was the fuel pump relay, I bought another however and the same symptoms remain. The car will be running fine and then out of nowhere just die. It seems electrical to me as the car will be running and driving fine at the time and then just die, and once it does it won't stay running for long after that.
A mechanic friend of mine told me to check the fuse on top of red topped plug in the fuse box and the fuse is fine. My check engine light isn't working either so I don't have any means of "knowing" there is a problem. Any help with this will be much appreciated.
