Leaking Gas Tank- 1997 280

I'm sorry if this has been already discussed.. I could not find it utilizing the search.
Here's my questions: 1997 280- it has a small drip gas leak.
* It's located under a black plastic cover on the under carriage ..which covers what seems like a fuel sending unit.
* This unit has a white plastic piece the is leaking gas. Is this the fuel sending unit and how difficult to replace it.. also do I need any special tools.

Thanks for all your help

Hi I may be wrong but it sounds like a leak at the fuel pump/filter assembly, you could try tightening the clip with a flat head screwdriver . A pix of it would help too.

Thanks for the response... I stopped by the dealer today and was advised that I have one of two sending units that are bad.. good for me- it's the lower of the two at $158+ vs the 250+ unit on the drivers side of the fuel tank... Since I have to drain 1/2 tank.. I thought is best to take it in.. and let them drain the gas on the hoist.

That price sounds good for a dealer. I'd just let them take care of it. I hope they don't eat you alive with the labor rates.
