Introduction - 1984 300D

Hello to all,

I am new member, and enjoy reading these posts, looks like a great way to share information.

I am currently restoring a commuter car: 1984 300D. I have done quite a few things already! car now has 245k (was 200k when I got her).

I need help to find split cv boots (ones that I can put on without removing axles). During inspection I found cracks, I taped it up, but want to replace before it opens up. I am planning on replacing the axles later on, so want to put on split boots for the time being, buy me several more months of usage before I tackle this project. Where can I get them for this car? found for older mid 60's and for VW's, but can't find for 300D - please help.

I just finished the following projects:
-new glow plugs
-replaced back window glass and seal (found rust, repaired) now rear defrost works
-replaced ac compressor, expansion valve, dryer, temp sensors, pulled hoses and had the rubber replaced, flushed evaporator....refilled with R12, wow works great...!

I also need assistance on where to find interior parts please. I need visors with lighted mirrors to get back to factory design (plus wife loves those....i use too, I must admit).

Does anyone know if other more modern seats will fit? so better feel, support, not using horse hair, and possibly heated seats?

thanks so much! Jason
