Why E Bolts?

So why do the Germans like E bolts? What advantage do they provide over a hex bolt?

If your referring to external torx, more and more mfg are using them. My silverado is full of them. I'm guessing that they are less likely to have rounded heads during use and also seem to have a smaller head diameter for a given bolt size.

DITTO on the above.
Being in construction I can confirm how annoying it is to keep on stripping Philips screws, while seeing that the Torxes can take humongous torque without a problem .
If you haven't notice -all microwave ovens and refrigerators are using them for last 20 years.
