Dealer issue

I am interested in purchasing a CPO car listed at an MB dealer. I called to schedule a visit to view the car and was told that I couldn't see it this weekend because the sales manager will be using the car for personal reasons. I've also been told that the vehicle has had over 1,000 miles put on it since it was advertised.

What's up with that? Is this normal? Is there someone in MB corporate who might take interest in hearing that they could be losing a sale as a result of this kind of behavior?

It sounds a little fishy to me. Call MBUSA and ask them what they think.

Evidently they are not in big hurry to sell it.
That can be good and bad. I wouldn't sweat it, still checking the market for other cars.
That said I bought a Mercedes who was driven for over 130k miles by a company CEO. Very careful inspection revealed only 1 sign of interior wear out >>>>> minimal discoloration on sunglasses compartment door. Floor mats have been replaced.

The car belongs (legal title) to the dealership, not MBUSA, so the dealership is pretty much free to use it as it sees fit.

The sales manager must really like this car. It is normal and customary for a sales manager to get his or her pick of just about any used car on the lot for personal use. There is nothing strange about this. Its part of the benefits package. Normally they would not put that many miles on any single car and they would make the car available to view if someone was interested in buying it. Is this a rare car for the market you are in?
