Boston area CLK320 owner
I've had my 2005 CLK for a while and have just gotten around to getting back on BenzWorld. My first MB was 1961 190SL, since then I've had a 1993 190e 2.6, 2000 E320 wagon, and currently the CLK. About this vehicle, it is an attention-getter, it's white with tinted windows, for some reason people notice it. That surprises me as I've I had Porsche's, Alfa's, Corvette's, etc. and it's the first time people have walked across the street to tell me how much the admire the car.
Having said that, it's probably my last MB. Why? I scoured the country for a CLK with navigation. When I finally found this one I was so disappointed. The nav system is so primative that I have a $99 Garmin in my glove box to get me places. For instance, if I want to find a church, a Home Depot or a post office the MB nav won't have it in its database. You can find a winery or country club, but not a hospital. To make matters worse they charge over $200 for an upgrade that shows new roads, but does not address one of the issues above. Shameful.
MB has lost all sight of reality. If I want to add factory satellite radio or phone service that would cost $3,000 for both. My next car will most likely be a Lexus as I can't bring myself to drive a BMW or Audi. The only thing that my keep me in the fold is if in future models they resolve what are issues to me. I say that because the car only has 50K on it and my last two went to 200K before being replaced.
