Engine stalling - fuel problem
Hi I'm new to this forum. Our 10 year old Mercedes C class 320 cuts out after approx 1hr of driving usually when ticking over at traffic lights. The car will not start again until after approx 1/4 hr when it will go straight away for perhaps another few miles and stop again! Suspecting a fuel problem I undid the fuel fuel cap and there was a huge rush of air into the tank as I undid it. The car then started normally and I drove home a further 100 miles with the cap slightly loose and no further problems. Checked with Mercedes garage and they said there should be a vacuum in the tank for 'environmental reasons'
In my experience with other makes There should be an air bleed hole in the filler cap? If all else fails I will take the car into the local Mercedes dealer.
