Post Mercedes CLS500 Questions Please Respond!!!!

I am new to this forum and currently in the process of purchasing
a used 06 Mercedes CLS 500 w/ AMG Sport Package...
It has 58K miles, Keyless Go, Navigation, Black On Black, With The
Chrome AMG Wheels...
This is through a private party not a dealership and I have negotiated the price to 28K.. Does this seem like a good deal and should I be worried about the miles.. Another thing what things should I look out for during second inspection. I test drove the car and it sort of swayed when accelerating with the stock wheels. He said only reason for this was the tires being almost bald. So he put the aftermarket 20" Asanti's that aren't being sold with the vehicle on and the car drove fine.
So I'm pretty sure that's the reason why I experienced the swaying. I'm looking for a response ASAP... I've left a deposit already and the guy has other potential buyers...

Never buy any used Mercedes, especially from a private party, without a thorough pre-purchase inspection by either a certified MB tech or the dealership. It will cost a couple of hundred dollars but it is the best money you ever spent. Also get a Car-Fax on the vehicle. If you enter the VIN at this website: Mercedes-Benz Club Russia | Mercedes-Benz / VIN it will tell you exactly when and how the car was built.

The CLS is a W219 chassis. If you scroll down this site to that forum, it is filled with folks who own this car. They can give you the heads-up on what's what with it.

The CLS is not the best model Mercedes ever produced, so buy one with your eyes open.

Good luck.

I would NOT buy any Mercedes without an MB extended warranty. Usless of course you have BIG pockets full of cash that you don't mind spending. Go find yourself a nice MB CPO vehicle.

I would highly advise you to avoid this car. 06 was the first model year and is was by far the worst. If you do buy this car, expect numerous electrical failures on a regular basis. You should have a large budget for repairs and access to another car to drive to because many of these cars spend more time in the shop than on the road. The build quality is low and the electrical malfunctions are numerous. The CLS is nothing more then an overpriced an over-styled E class. Just because it looks cool and has a star on the grill, doesn't mean its a good car.
