Brake Pads & Slotted Rotors

1997 SL 320. Reccommendations on brake pads and slotted rotors. Only got 17,000 miles out of last pads. All city driving. Does that seem odd?

More and more members like Akebonos for low dust.
Slotted rotors, so they shave the pads faster?
17K huh?
I am getting in the range of 100k, but mostly freeway, although it is crazy freeway here in Bay Area.

Scroll down to the R129 forum (your car is a R129 chassis). The place is full of R129 owners and every one of them will have an opinion about rotors and pads for your car.

Since I'm about to be in the market for rotors and pads for my R129, I'll be interested in the advice you get.

Right now I'm looking at OEM Silver Arrow rotors (which can be had cheap from PartsGeek) and Akebono pads. The SA rotors are drilled front and back, so they should work better in the wet.

Good luck.
