What possessed you to do that? Aside from making your car illegal almost everywhere, much of the engine management software relies on readings from sensors in the cats or from the back pressure and exhaust temperature they create.

Modern designs for cats do not create the roadblock to exhaust flow that was true in the 70s and 80s. The result of that is you won't enjoy much if any power increase by removing them.

I'm not sure simply remapping your EMC is a fix.

Good luck.

If you take time to fill out your profile, it will help us help you. Knowing where you are and the MY of your car is helpful.

i can see what you are saying about the 70's n 80's part cars are more advanced now and oviously mercedes are ahead of their time compared to other vechicles of the same age but it must be capable of giving it more power with it off thats why i was thinking the computer side of it might need altering

You're missing the point. The computer relies on information from sensors associated with the cats. If you remove the cats, you remove the ability of the EMC to read necessary information from those sensors. No amount of remapping will correct the absence of necessary information.

That aside, unless you are a computer whiz yourself and have the necessary hardware and software to do your own remapping, it is against the law in the EU to tamper with the emissions system of any vehicle. Doing so is a criminal offense. I doubt you will find a shop willing to do it for you at the risk of prosecution. If you do, it will not be a reputable shop, and you run the risk of having more damage than good done by such a place. Even if you have the ability to do it yourself, you are still violating the law.

It is your car and your decision, but I encourage you to rethink the wisdom of what you have done.

Cheers.

Wow, how do you expect to pass MOT (I assume you are in the UK?). It is 100% illegal and quite dumb to remove the cats on a modern cars.
