I don't think they are all that expensive to maintain, if you do the maint as scheduled. When I owned both of my 240D's it was not terrible. I also think the value/quality are better...there is definitely a difference between a 97 Honda and a 97 Benz. Both are good quality cars with longevity, but there is a certain feel of quality with the benz. Everytime.

If a car is no lemon, maintenance is sweet and driving a pleasure. An abstract of parts price is not representative of the cost per mile ridden. On the other hand, it is only natural that a more complex, better made car would be more involved to maintain and fix. For instance, you don't need multiple bobbins in a single bobbin starting system; or you don't need 9 quarts of oil in a small 4-cylinder engine.

So, we bought Mercedes... we all know it implies the acceptance of a snobbish extra cost for an artificially endowed status symbol, all bs created by the MB Madison Ave Agency. They gave it to us all the moment we signed on the car purchase so, enjoy and rejoice.

A car would show appreciation for preventive maintenance by never leaving his owner stranded.

Defensive Driving is never having to say you're sorry: a true love story between man and machine.

My fleet of four are so cheap to maintain it's embarrassing. I do all of my own work and not only are they cheap to maintain, but they are relatively easy to work on. One thing you don't do though is defer maintenance. When it is due, you do it.
