Smile oil level low, then check engine light comes on

Hi,
I need help with oil level light coming on and then right after that check engine, stop engine light comes on in red. When i go to turn off the car it read malfunction 1.
The car runs great, but will not pass inspection with this message coming up on dash. HELP
I have a 2000 s430, 108 thousand miles. Oil changed 3 months ago. When i took it to the dealer i told him that the light was coming on and he said after the oil change the mechanis said light was still coming on but i chould just drive it for a few days and it should go away. Well it hasn't and when i called dealer they said i have to bring in again for diag. testing and another $250.00!!!

Get the $39 OBDII scanner and save $210 on the spot.
I assume you confirmed with dipstick the oil level is OK?

You have a W220 and there is a forum for those. That might be something inherent to the early models so I would check there. IMO that dealer should have done the diagnostics the first time you had it there due to the check engine light. To the best of my knowledge, dirty or low oil will not trip one of those so it has to be something else.

Is the low oil light followed by the CEL happening just like it was before the oil change?
