I am a new member the Benz World Forum and a member of Mercedes Benz Club of America as well. I purchased my Certified 2006 C230 Sport back in October after my every day driver died. The funny thing about the timing of the car’s demise was that I had gone by South Charlotte Mercedes on my way home when my engine blew for no particular reason. I was impressed with how well priced there pre owned cars were on there lot and after driving 15 other cars I purchased the C230. I was very interested in Ford’s new product line mainly because Ford had not taken any of our tax money during this current economic down turn, but in the end we buy what we like.
I have been a car buff all my life and when I was headed off to college my Dad convinced me to pursue Furniture Design instead of automotive design. Furniture Design has been a great fit for me and I have won many awards and been compensated nicely, but I still love good car design. My allegiance in F1 has thus far been with the “Red Team” and I have owned a number of Italian cars, all red and one I still own. Now that Michael Schumacher is driving a Mercedes again I might turn some allegiance toward my new everyday driver’s brand. I like the idea of someone my age back on the grid and hopefully he will move up from 6th.
One thing to say about the little red cars is that you need to love working on cars to own one for any length of time. If this recession will ever end I might look into a Pagoda to play with, they certainly look like a fun top down ride and probably more mechanically sound than what I am accustom. I look forward to being part of this forum and welcome any advice about C class ownership. Thanks
