Lightbulb Muffler Relacement 1989 420 SEL

Hey Everybody:

Im a newbie and looking for information on least expensive way to replace factory OEM exhaust system. I've seen a few posts where the "resonators" were removed ( cool with that) and pipe just going to the muffler.

Can I go with a single pipe configuration from the " cats " all the way back to a " single intake muffler " ( please recommend least expensive but not too loud option).

Or, will I need to stay " dual pipes " from the " cats " all the way back to dual in/out muffler?

If you have some pics to show that would be great or, point me in the direction of other threads that discuss options.

Much appreciation in advance
